One of my favorite things about a furniture makeover is the before and after photos! I always wonder, how many people would just walk by this dresser in a thrift store, or get rid of it because it’s old and they’ve just had it forever. What do you have in your home that could use a makeover? I used General Finishes Coastal Blue for this project… and the end results are stunning! Take a look!

I debated painting the hardware a brighter bronze or gold, but decided to stick with the original patina! I did make sure to clean them really well, and spruce them up with some gold Rub ‘N Buff. I added just a little bit to the edges, so now the beautiful detail stands out a bit more on the navy blue, while still leaving the original dark brass color in the middle. It’s the perfect option for getting the best of both worlds!

I sealed this piece with General Finishes Flat out Flat, I love the look of this sealant! No shine, which keeps that vintage charm that I love so much!

I have this exact dresser (with the matching vanity and night stand). It was my husbands Great Auntβs childhood furniture. I loove how you painted it and I ordered all the exact colors to achieve the same look! Did you distress the edges or use the rub and buff?

Hi did you use the rub and buff on the dresser legs side decor ? And around the edges to give that gold look?
Also did you prime the furniture first ?

Hello! No rub and buff anywhere except for the hardware! The side decor is just distressed! No primer on this piece, just sanded down and cleaned really well!
