You guys, I can’t even tell you what a huge project this was. I mean, look at this picture… Does it give you nightmares just looking at it?! Yikes, We had wood in the kitchen, carpet in the living room, and tile in our entryway… so the removal process was a tough to say the least. With all that being said…don’t let me scare you away! LOL! WORTH IT! I love the end result, and yes, I would do it over again, if I could go back!

So this picture below…you might be wondering about it. Since our entryway was tile, and it met at a diagonal to the carpet…we had a height issue there (hopefully that makes sense)! Basically we could have had to use a “transition” piece that would have looked like a 2″ seam running diagonally from where the two floors used to meet. What we decided to do…(which may or may not have been the best way to do it) was replace the sub-floor all together so that all of the floors were flush even…no transitions!
Yep, that’s a huge hole in our floor. Stuff they don’t tell ya, am I right?! 😂

Choosing our flooring was HARD. It was hard, because how can you even know what it’s going to look like with that tiny sample they give you? You just can’t! I strongly suggest purchasing a whole box or even two, just so you can lay it out like I did in this picture below. I actually left this out for a week or so, just so I could see it in all different lights. This was probably the 5th different color I had purchased before I finally decided it was the one I wanted! And let me tell ya, those colors look a heck of a lot different in your home than they do in the store. Don’t rush this decision… it’s a big one!!!

Our tile rug!!! Isn’t this SO FUN!?! This was kind of a last minute…. “Babe…do you think we can do this? Maybe…ehhh…if you want to…pretty please…after you just replaced the whole sub-floor here…. but only if you want to!” kind of question… ladies, you hear me right?! We’ve got to be persuasive with our DIY asks and “add-ons”!

Adding in unique charm and character to your spaces is what makes your house a home. It’s what says… this is ME! This makes me happy! It’s fun, it’s different, it’s what people remember about your home (second to how your home makes a person feel when they are there). Don’t be afraid to make bold decisions… don’t remodel for the “next person” buying your house, or what’s in style. Do what you love, make it your own!

Another persuasive “add-on” pictured below…. because, WHY NOT?!

DIY Floors are no joke! It was so much time and work, not to mention the MESS. BUT, it was worth the effort. We love how it turned out, and I love that we are able to say that we did it ourselves!
